Positive Mental Attitude - Fitness Journey


Today, I'm feeling rather Proud of myself.

The past week I've been noticing more small differences about myself, they maybe small differences but that doesn't matter, they are differences!. I decided this morning to try on my old trousers again (the pair I had when I was at school, my 'goal' trousers). The last time I tried them on, I squeezed into them (blog post ). but today they felt a lot looser, but they still aren't suitable to wear out.
So I was feeling really good about myself. Remembering that these trousers fitted me when I was at my 'smallest', and thinking yay I'm nearly there!. So I thought I would weigh myself, thinking I must have lost a lot! errr wrong, Nooope, I have actually gained 3 pounds!! (Since the last weigh in).

Now this is where the feeling proud comes in to it :).

Instead of crying, feeling depressed and just generally feeling like I want to give up, because I've been working so hard and the last thing you want to see is a weight gain!!

I felt Fantastic - maybe it helped that I tried the trousers on first, I don't know. but I'm more focused on the fact that I'm getting stronger and leaner and don't care anymore about 'weightloss'    

Since my fitness journey / weight loss Journey started I've always known not to go by the scales, but we all know, we like the scales to be low. Which is really not a healthy way to think!!. My main focus was to get rid of the Fat!!  
I've obviously finally trained my brain to think yes Fat not Weight! :).


The past couple of months I've changed my workouts and have manly been focusing more on yoga and body weight training. Just in this short space of time, I'm noticing how much stronger and leaner I'm getting. I think I may have found the workouts that are right for me. Plus I'm really determined to improve all of the yoga poses I have been doing :).

Its great to find something that keeps you motivated.

Its also a great feeling realising how much I have learned and have grown in the past 3 years.

Pink for a Girl and Blue for a Boy! ~ Handmade By Donna


The second most requested card, I get asked to make is a New Baby card.
They are always the first cards to go, when I have made various cards and put them in my Card Box for sale.

So I've designed a New Baby card, one for a Girl and one for a Boy, based on the card I made for my Sister (see card).

You can find these cards in my cards for sale album on my Facebook page Handmade by Donna and each card will be made to order.

Its a Girl:



It's a Boy:




Both cards will be blank inside.
As you can see the difference in the two is the colours and the hearts.
They both measure approx. 10.5 x 21 cm.

Baby Blanket

 
For those of you who don't follow me and Twitter and/or Facebook ~ I'm an Auntie :)

As soon as my sister told me she was expecting. I wanted to make a keepsake for her and the baby.  I decided to crochet her/him a baby blanket. Obviously I had to wait a while to find out what colours :). As you can see by the colours she is had a boy.

After doing some research I decided to make a granny square blanket in these 3 colours.  


I was unsure how big to make the blanket, So I just kept going till I ran out of yarn.

 
 
The only thing I don't enjoy with all my crochet projects, is sewing all the ends in! and there were quite a few to tidy up on this project :).

I ended up with 36 rounds and I finished off the square with a double crochet stitch border in the white yarn.
 
He looks gorgeous in it, Don't you agree :)

The Harry Potter Tag!!


I wasn't Tagged and I don't normally do 'Tags', but I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, so I had to do it. I have read all of the books and they are always a go to movie, when I have movie days with my brother (we don't watch all of them in one sitting, we just pick one or two ;) ).

1. Which book is your favourite?

The Goblet of Fire ~ I think the book is better than the film


2. Which Film is your favourite?

Also The Goblet of Fire, The films start to get dark from this film, Its more grown up, scary (if you get what I mean.)

3. Which book is your least favourite?

I can't pick one, I think they are all really good

4.  Which film is your least favourite?

Again, I can't pick one, but I would say I've watched the first film - The Philosopher's Stone the least, compared to the others.

5. Which part of the books or films made you cry?

When Dobby dies :(

6. If you could hook up with any character, who would it be?

7. Who is your favourite character?

I have more than one
Hermione ~ Girl Power

and the one who can't be named Lord Voldemort ~ I like a baddie, but really I like the way Ralph Fiennes portrays him

Dolores Umbridge ~ Meanie

9. What is your favourite line?

I have two and they are both from Albus Dumbledore

The Invisibility Cloak even though I don't think you need a cloak to be invisible

Emma Watson, I think she is an awesome young lady and is a great role model

A Beater - I'm good with a bat, hehe :)

Yes, very happy and I did shed tear or two  

16. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?

This series is the first series I have ever gotten into, I was a bit late in reading them, You can tell buy the picture of my books, they start off in paperback!.  It started because I was looking for something to read on the train, on my way to work, and I they were on offer in Tesco so I purchased the first three books and I got hooked. I was one of 'them' that got excited when the next book got released, and had to get it straight away. And like I mentioned before they are a go to film when I have movie time/day with my brother. I have lost count the amount of times I have watched each film.


Harry Potter is definitely one of my Favourites

Keep Calm and Do Yoga


With Yoga I always thought how is standing or sitting there and just 'posing' a good workout?!? boy was I wrong!

I've been practising Yoga (on the Wii Fit) since about 2012.  At the beginning I would add a few poses in to my workout routine. Then I started doing a couple of days a week (with not very good balance) to just recently practicing yoga everyday, my balance and flexibility has improved so much (not excellent but good ;)). I'm definitely not an expert, I'm still a beginner.


I only knew some basic poses and recently I've been wanting to try some new ones.
A few months ago I missed out on a Yoga challenge (on Instagram) and afterwards I said if there is another one I will give it a go. So the past month I did the #ShesGotLegs Challenge (I mentioned the challenge previously in this Post :) ).


Here are my 'attempts' at each pose:



The pictures are quite small, I didn't want to bore you with 31 pictures. If you want to see each pose, please see my Instagram page for each day :).

Quite a lot of them were really difficult to do. Okay, I lied, they are ALL difficult to do. Some of them I wasn't even close. lol. but hey at least I was trying!. Luckily @BeachYogaGirl gave other options for each pose. I couldn't get my legs behind my head.  :)

The one big challenge I had with this this was, Comparing myself to others, who were also doing the challenge. They made all the poses look so easy!.  I kept getting a bit disheartened, I had to keep telling myself this is my journey and by practising (lots of practise!) I will improve and get more flexible and I have to stop comparing myself to others!!. #LifeLesson :)


I'm really noticing the benefits of Yoga.
I find Yoga both challenging and relaxing. My balance, flexibility and posture are improving so much and I find it really helps with my anxiety.  
 
I had a lot of fun with this challenge, learning all the different poses. I'm going to join in with Septembers challenge #BalanceBasics
