Fitness Journey Update

Anyone else getting a bit fed up with this weather! I know I am. I don't like complaining, but, I really don't cope very well in the heat!! Summer is not my favourite season. The past few weeks have been a struggle for me.

Especially because on the 14th I started a healthy habit 21 day challenge with Zico on Instagram. I came across this through Jessica Alba (I follow her on Insta) She is the face of this #CrackLifeOpen challenge. My challenge is to be more Active!. Trust me to start this in a blinking heat wave!! So far with this challenge there has been two days when I wasn't very active, the rest I have been doing my best. Luckily my diet has been really clean, I'm getting a bit obsessed with making my own smoothies, there will be a post on them soon (are you excited! I bet you are ;) ).

Also, I'm thinking of starting another Challenge. Its a yoga #ShesGotLegs Challenge. I'm going to give it a go, I'm still a beginner, they say this challenge is for "all levels". but hey, you don't know until you try. It doesn't start till the 1st of August and is also on Instagram.

The past few weeks I've noticed my Polar watch hasn't been working properly, after I've been wearing it for a few minutes it says 'Check Heart Rate Transmitter :( so I haven't been able to keep track of the calories I've been burning :( But I've figured out why my heart rate isn't being picked up. (I'm not dead, I did check ;) lol ) I've had to tighten the chest strap, But I can't tighten it any further :) So, soon I will need a new chest strap in a Size XS-S !!!! Yay!!! I never realised how much Fat I have lost till I noticed this #SoHappy

I'm also trying to improve my upper body strength, I've changed how I do Tricep Dips. Instead of having my knees bent, my legs are straight. O.M.G. they are hard!! # NoticeTheDifference

I will say one good thing about this heat wave, I have been drinking sooooo much water. :)

Till next time FitFam

Coconut Milk and Strawberry Ice Lolly

After reading one of my neighbours blog posts about Popsicles (Please check out her lovely Blog for great recipes MyDinner.co.uk ) I remembered I had purchased YEARS!! ago an Ice Lolly kit from Whittard of Chelsea (the kit is so old I don't think they sell them anymore)

So with the British summer truly underway its only fitting to have a go at making my own Ice lollies.
I decided to make a Coconut Milk and Strawberry ice lolly

I used Tesco Free From Coconut Milk and Tesco Finest Driscoll Jubilee Strawberries.

I'm part of the Tesco Orchard programme, they sent me a coupon to spend on any of their selection of fresh berries. I picked up two of these packs of Strawberries. I love strawberries :). #TriedItFree

I'm very surprised at how delicious these strawberries tasted. Especially because I have been eating home grown strawberries from my parents house the past month (see post How does you garden grow?). We all know how great freshly picked fruit tastes and normally when you buy fruit in the supermarkets they don't normally taste of anything, (if you know what I mean :)). But with these I think it helps that they are British and local :).

Yummy!!

Back to the lollies :)

I chopped up 5 strawberries and filled up the cup with coconut milk

I used my Magic Bullet to blend the two ingredients

Then I poured the mixture into the ice lolly moulds and put them in the freezer for about (it says on the ice lolly packaging) 4 hours but I left mine over night.

and That's it, Homemade, Gluten and Dairy free, no added anything Refreshing Ice lollies.
easy peasy lemon squeezy  (minus the lemon ;) ) :)

And Yes they tasted great :)

Do you make your ice lollies?. Have you tried any of Tesco's Summer Berries? please leave a comment. And don't forget to check out MyDinner.co.uk for her Popsicle (and other) Recipes.

Flash Liquid-Gel Review

(Please note: As of January 2016 due to my lifestyle change (vegan, sustainable) I no longer use this product )

I was asked again by Supersavvyme to join one of their projects, this time it was for Flash Liquid-Gel.

Flash Liquid-Gel claims to be 2.5x more powerful in every drop compared to their lemon liquid and is multipurpose, so it can be used on both floors and worktops and in any room of the house.

My verdict : Tick, Tick, Tick!! I'm so happy with this product, it really does what it says on the tin :). I have used this in every room, on the floors (tiled, wood and laminate) and on work tops and it left everything really clean. I also used it on my cooker after cooking a Sunday roast

Before pic: A cleanaholics worst nightmare

After Cooking
 After Pic: :) Very happy

After using Flash :) Nice and clean
The only mistake was, I only cleaned the hob with the Flash, I should have cleaned other things too. Which is how I found out it really does go a long way. It took me a while to get the rest of the product off.

Too much to clean just one thing

Flash liquid-gel bottle is designed with a self-dosing cap. Which means no accidental spillages and you get the right amount every time and it really does go a long way :).
Also this Flash liquid-gel is smaller than other Flash products, which is great for the environment!

This product is

  1. 60% less water Vs. current Flash dilute.
  2. 63% less water per bottle shipped.
  3. up to 45% less packaging when compared to the common Flash dilute, on a comparable wash.
  4. 40-50% fewer trucks (based on double stacking in trucks).

Thumbs up from me :)

and its not just me, every one I have mentioned this product to or have given them a sample to try, they have all said the same thing and have purchased a Flash Liquid-Gel for themselves.

The only fault for me but not others, is I don't really like the lemon scent. But I am weird ;)

I really think this product is brilliant for cleaning, its so good I went and purchased two for myself.

I think these two smell better than the Crisp Lemons scent :).

Overall I think this project has been a success.

Have you tried the new Flash Liquid-Gel? Do you like it? Please leave a comment below :).

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Future Review

I've been in two minds about posting this blog post. I wanted this blog to be positive and sharing my favourite things and experiences etc.  After thinking about it, I decided to post, because I did ask to try these products and I wanted to share with you my experience with them.

I entered in to the Debenhams Beauty Club V.I.P Panel to review the new products from the Elizabeth Arden range Flawless Future, As you can see I was one of the lucky ones to be picked.
It was a lovely surprise to get a parcel with these goodies inside.

I love trying out skincare products and seeing what the new things are, but, I'm very basic when it comes to skincare. I don't use many products because I have very sensitive skin.

Because of my sensitive skin, I find it quite hard to find creams/serums to suit my skin type, sadly I didn't find one here :(.

The Eye gel, is supposed to brighten the skin and fights the signs of stress and fatigue around the eyes. The eye gel did feel nice on my skin, but I didn't notice any difference.

The Caplet Serum, is supposed to provide a refreshing burst that initially clings to your skin then dries to a smooth weightless finish.
When I used the serum with the cream, they felt like they stayed on my skin all day!. At first I thought it was the cream, because It felt like it took ages for my skin to absorb the cream. Then I tried the serum with my cream I 've been using lately and again it felt like the cream was just sitting on my face.
Sadly for me the serum didn't make my skin feel smooth and it definitely didn't feel weightless.

The Moisture Cream is supposed to be a lightweight daily moisture cream which hydrates and brightens skin.
This cream didn't do any of this for my skin :(.
I tried the cream with and with out using the serum and my skin felt greasy :( and it felt like it took ages to absorb in to my skin, it felt like it was just sitting on top of my face. I didn't find this moisture cream lightweight.
Because of all this my skin ended up breaking out :(. (that's why I haven't done any before and after pictures :(. Sorry I'm not that confident :( ).

I think we can safely say these products are not suitable for my skin type. I will stick with the cheaper moisturisers.

But I will say the cream did smell really nice and the packaging is really pretty.
I'm sorry I couldn't give a positive review, but I did say I have very sensitive skin and I do find it very difficult to find skincare products that suit my skin type.

I would like to thank Debenhams for giving me the opportunity to try out these products.

Have you tried any products similar to these? Do you have trouble finding skincare products that suit your skin type? I would love to know your opinion on these products :)

'Bowl' Food

Many of you might know, I'm Gluten/Wheat intolerant and eat pretty much a Vegetarian diet. The past month I've noticed I'm also Dairy intolerant! So my 'Diet' has changed again. I hate using the word 'Diet'!.

I don't mind really, because I was gradually cutting out dairy from my 'Diet' (I can't think of another word to use!). But I was starting to feel like I did when I realised I was Gluten Intolerant :( .
The past week I've been having to pay so much attention (Again!) to what I eat, checking all the ingredients and changing my meals, because guess what, Dairy is in (feels like) everything!. I was feeling a bit sorry for myself, but I snapped out of it (as they say) and tried to be positive and

I wouldn't say I'm now a Vegan because I am still eating eggs, but I'm not far off.

The past week I've noticed with every meal, I was eating out of a bowl!. Apart from my Roast Pizza ;) (It was so yummy!).

Here are a few of my meals from last week:

Breakfast:

This breakfast is suitable for Vegans, Natures Path GF cereal and Coconut Milk :)

Lunches and/or Dinners:

I say 'and/or' because these are BIG bowls of food!

2x hard boiled eggs with lettuce, spinach, beetroot, cucumber, tomatoes and sweetcorn. Another meal I also had Basmati rice with it. (and I don't have eggs every time).

Gluten Free (Free From) pasta with broccoli and spinach cooked in the same pot, with grilled mushrooms and sweetcorn, and with Mayonnaise (yes Full Fat Mayo, low fat mayo contains Dairy).

Rice Noodles, with carrots, mushrooms, spinach, cabbage, beansprouts and sesame seeds. (Also suitable for Vegans)

I just love how colourful my food looks :).

I've noticed I eat so much more food now, then I did before I was gluten intolerant, which is a good thing, my 'diet' was rubbish before.
I know its really only been a little over a week, but, I think its a good thing having to change my 'diet' again. My 'diet' is going to be really clean. All of this food is so good for me, my body is getting all the nutrients it needs and hopefully my body will sort it self out! :).

I don't know why I got in a state at the beginning, I really need to focus on the positive, because things work out in the end. :)

...and I think I need to invest in some more bowls ;)

Febreze Sleep Serenity Review #sleephappy

(Please note: As of January 2016 due to my lifestyle change (vegan, sustainable) I no longer use this product )

I was invited by Supersavvyme to join their new Febreze Sleep Serenity Project.

I already am a fan of Febreze, I like to use their Fabric Refreshers. So I was happy to try their new Sleep Serenity bedroom mists. Even though to be honest, I never use Air Fresheners, I find them too strong. I prefer to use candles. But being that these are for when you go to sleep, its not a good idea to use a candle! (health and safety!) These 'mists' I found really quite pleasant.

With this kit I got to try out their 3x new Febreze Sleep Serenity Bedroom Mists in Moonlit Lavender, Quiet Jasmine and Warm Milk & Honey.

The first mist I went straight to, was the Moonlight Lavender, I love the smell of lavender, we all know how relaxing lavender is.

"Lavender has long been recognised for its soothing benefits. In fact, evidence suggests that aromatherapy with lavender oil quietens the mind, promotes relaxation and improves sleep quality."

Then I tried the Quiet Jasmine,

Not my favourite one out of the three. But still nice.

"Jasmine is known to have calming qualities - research suggests that not only can Jasmine aid deeper sleep but it also improves concentration and alertness the following day"

Then lastly I tried the Warm Milk & Honey,

This one is my favourite out of the three. Which I'm very surprised with, I was expecting Lavender to be my favourite. It was also the favourite with my friends and family. They also wanted to try the lavender until they tried all three, and changed their minds.

"Many believe that a warm glass of milk and honey can help us drift off to sleep as it evokes warm and fuzzy feeling from childhood"

With all three of these mists, I sprayed my bedroom just as I was going to bed. I agree all three of them made my room smell really nice and I felt calm and relaxed. But I didn't notice any difference in my sleep.

Everyone I have given samples too, have all said the same thing. They smell great, but didn't notice a difference in their sleep.

Sadly for me, they don't completely do what they say on the tin. They do make great air fresheners.

I will definitely be buying the Febreze Sleep Serenity Fabric Refresher (not the Mist) in the Warm Milk & Honey scent. It really does smell really nice. :)

Have you tried any of this Febreze range? What do you use or do to help you relax and get a good nights sleep?.

Friday Fav - Clarins

(Please note: As of January 2016 due to my lifestyle change (vegan, sustainable) I no longer use this product )
For todays Friday favourite I thought I would do another beauty post.
My parents have just got back from holiday, and instead of bringing me back an orange like last time (see post ). They got me a new Clarins Cleanser. Yay!!

I love this cleanser.

This Cleanser is quite expensive compared to other brands you find on the high street, but you only need to use a tiny amount at a time and it leaves my face feeling really soft and clean and it smells great :).  I think its definitely worth the money.

Thanks mum and dad :) xx

oh and if anyone is wondering the nail varnish I'm wearing in the top picture, it is from Nails Inc.

a freebie with InStyle Magazine and the colour is called Sao Paulo Streets. I've  been wearing this one a lot.  I don't think they sell it anymore, :( Should have picked up two magazines #sadtimes :(.

till next time
