Just Be Present ~ Yoga Challenge

As you can see by the title, this months Challenge is all about being present. And boy did I learn about being present the hard way :) lol.

This month was like an advent calendar (but with no chocolate ;) ), there are only 24 poses. Each pose was to help you/us to stay present during the most stressful time of the year.
Compared to last month. December was so much better, a complete turn around. I've even managed to have made some progress in a few poses. :)

Here are my attempts at each pose:

For more details of each pose please see my Instagram @donnaukx

Because I have improved with a few poses, I have quickly learnt, that you REALLY do need to stay present and focused, when you do a pose. Like I said I learned the hard way... I face planted my yoga mat a few times with this challenge. Not even kidding, lol. Luckily I wasn't wearing my glasses, because that would've really hurt ;).

This year I'm so grateful I found these yoga challenges. The only thing I wish, is I found them sooner. I'm looking forward to next months challenge and seeing how much I improve on my yoga journey thought out 2015.

Do you do a Yoga Challenge? Have you started/will be starting a Yoga challenge? Are you a newbie or an experienced yogi? leave me a comment below, I would love to know.

Woody and Jessie ~ Vlog

I love dogs, since I've moved out of my parents house (6 years ago!). I no longer live with a dog(s) :(. I really miss them, I've always had dogs, so when I get asked to 'Dog Sit' Woody and Jessie, I jump at the chance.

Woody and Jessie are 8 year old (Yellow and Black) Labrador Retrievers and they are my family dogs. I can't believe they are 8!! It still feels like yesterday we got them. And Yes, we did name them after Woody & Jessie from Toy Story :).

They are your typical Labrador. Like to eat (everything!), Sleep, Play in the water, preferably muddy and retrieve. Well, Woody likes to retrieve :)

Through out the year I get to look after these two, and I love every single bit of it.
I literally spend the whole time dedicated to them.

I take so many pictures and video footage. I put together a little video of my time with them when I 'dog sat' in November.

Hope you enjoyed my little video, I really enjoyed putting it together.

If you liked it. Please Like my video and Subscribe to my channel. :)

Do you have any pets?

Till next time

The Me-Time Tag

Thought I would do another Tag. I enjoyed doing the last few, even though most of the questions I don't have answers for. oh well :) I hope you enjoy this one :)

I got this Me-Time Tag from Jennie

1. What do you like to watch or read during me-time?

I like to watch a movie. It can be any movie, it really depends on what mood I'm in.
Also I like to play a game on my PlayStation, I'm a bit of a gamer. I have finally got a PSN account (I know, I'm only about 10 years late! lol) so I'm playing Tomb Raider again so I have the trophies on my account.

I mainly read more in the summer.

2. What do you wear during me-time?

PJs ~ I love Pyjamas, they are comfy and I know once I have my PJs on I know I don't need to go anywhere and I can relax. You might have noticed in some of my Yoga pictures I'm wearing PJs :) #comfy

3. What are your favourite me-time beauty products?

Lush Products!!! I'm addicted to Lush

Picture repost from blog post Link

4. Current favourite nail polish?

Nails Inc

This was free with the latest Glamour Magazine.

5. What do you eat or drink during me-time?

Popcorn and it has to be Sweet popcorn :) Yum!!

6. Current favourite candle?

Again like I said in a previous tag, not really a fan of candles.

7. Do you ever have outdoor me-time?

In the summer I do, I like to sit outside and read

8. Would you ever go and watch a film alone?

No, I don't have the confidence too. I know a lot of people who do go to the cinema alone, I wouldn't.

9. Favourite online shop?

I used to love Play.com but since it changed I never use it. I don't really have a favourite one now, I'm not really a shopper.

10. Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?

It all depends if I want to relax or not. If I want to use my brain ;) I sometimes like to look through my Crochet patterns and see I can find a new pattern to try.

I Tag you! let me know in the comments below if you have done this Tag. I would love to read your answers :)

Healing Hearts ~ Yoga Challenge

This month had been a bit of a crappy month, not going to go into details but a lot of 'life lessons' was learnt. and funnily enough this months challenge Healing Hearts was all about focusing on GRATITUDE and HEART opening postures. So everyday with each pose, we had to focus on what we are grateful for. This helped me ALOT to stay positive :) .
Even though I did attempt each pose, the rest of the month I didn't have my photographer (aka my Mr) available to take the pictures :(.

Also I mentioned last month I was challenging myself by doing two challenges (Post)

Bad Timing to challenge myself with two challenges :( I also only did three poses.

I took these pictures at the beginning of the month.

Yesterday I tried to take all the pictures for this post. I say tried, I failed miserably. Because, last month I didn't practice like I normally do, I struggled with nearly all of them :( I feel so out of shape, I couldn't do them.
I feel so disappointed with myself, mainly because I was improving so much. But I can't turn the clock back, I'm not going to dwell on it. This is just a little setback in my fitness journey. We all have them. We have started a new month and I will get back on track.

I didn't post much on my Instagram page @donnaukx  but the names of the poses I did do are on there.

What I've learnt this month is whatever crap you are going through focus on the positive and what you are grateful for. It really does work :).

I've already started Decembers Yoga Challenge. I'm so determined to finish this year strong.

Till next time

My Fitness Journey - The mental side

Whatever 'Journey' you are going though we all need something that reminds us to stay positive, to keep us focused and motivated. You may have noticed I use the quote/# ProgressNotPerfection quite a lot. This quote is my motivation that keeps me going and keeps me positive. I'm really glad I found this quote and I will tell you why.

Sharing my Fitness / Weight loss Journey online (esp. on Instagram) can be a great thing and also a bad thing, don't get me wrong I think Instagram can be a great place for inspiration and motivation. Seeing other people share their stories / journeys, getting tips etc to help you is great.
But, for me esp. after about 6 months into my Journey (back than, I was mainly focusing on Weight loss, bad, I know) I started to compare myself to others and kept wondering why my 'weightloss' was a lot less than theirs. I also started to feel disappointed with my 'Progress Pics'. Other peoples always seemed to look so much better.
I could see I was going down a negative path and I ended up un following quite a few fitness accounts.

I find that quite weird that the accounts that helped me at the beginning were now doing the exact opposite. But, I know it was what was in my head that needed sorting out. These accounts did nothing wrong, I don't think I was jealous of their progress I was more frustrated I wasn't getting the results after all the hard work I was putting in. Completely forgetting my body at that time was going through crap because of the Gluten intolerance and the reason why I gained the weight in the first place! My body was still healing.

It was only when an account I follow posted this picture

I had a look through my own IG account and noticed all the progress I had made and to be honest I was pretty proud of myself. (Progress blog post)

(repost pic)

Since then I have been focusing on my own journey, But, recently since I've started my 'Yoga Journey', old habits have crept back and I found myself comparing myself to others again (I mentioned this in this Post). Before I reached the negative stage, I noticed the # ProgressNotPerfection on quite a lot of Yoga pictures. And for some known reason it stuck with me. It could be because the lovely ladies I follow for the Yoga Challenges always talk about how far they have come on their journey and showing us their progress and also how they struggle or had struggled with some poses and they always make sure there are options for all levels.
Its not about focusing on perfecting the pose its what you learn on your journey (Yes I know I'm getting very hippie ;) ). but, so far I'm going to have to agree, focusing on my progress (not perfection) is helping me stay motivated. What I'm learning on my journey is changing me for the better and Perfecting the Pose is going to be a bonus :).

Progress not perfection can be used for any thing. It reminds me to stay focused on the positive, you will always find progress whether its mental or physical.

I still follow quiet a few fitness accounts on Instagram. I love following other peoples journeys and seeing there progress. I still think its the best place for inspiration and motivation esp. if you find the right accounts.

And the one other thing I like to remind myself is, this is YOUR journey

Till next time
Eat Clean, Train Mean and remember Progress not Perfection :)

Lets Get Flexy ~ Yoga Challenge

October was all about flexibility, as you may know from previous posts/challenges my flexibility is not very good, It is something I really need to work on.

Here are my attempts at this months challenge: (For more details please see my Instagram page for each day)

You may have noticed 4 days are missing (days 26,28,29 and 30), they are poses with a handstand. I didn't attempt them because I'm still not confident with doing handstands and headstands.

This months challenge, I've noticed little differences in my body, just by doing these poses. Its only little improvements, like, going a (little) bit further in a pose or noticing my muscles don't feel has tight. My hamstrings are still a big problem for me. But I know in time they will improve :)

And the best thing about this challenge, I have not one but two! Yoga Progress Pictures!!!!

I know the pose is not perfect but I can remember when I first attempted this pose, and I struggled to get one hand on to my heal and the pain! in my quads!!. I was in shock when I could touch my heals with both hands, I could still feel the stretch in my quads, but wow, I never thought I would get my first progress picture with this pose! :) Yay for me!

The second pic, again I know the pose isn't perfect but my finger tips are touching, so it counts ;) I couldn't twist my body on the first attempt so I had to do an option of the pose, and now I can :).

Progress Not Perfection :)

All I can say is that it feels awesome! It really is an awesome feeling witnessing what your body can do!

Who wants to join me with this months challenge? You can join in whenever you want, just follow @beachyogagirl and @kinoyoga and the sponsors @shaktiactivewear on Instagram they post how to do each pose for the day (for all levels) and obviously you don't need to post pictures if you don't want to. Just practice each day and watch your progress :).

This month I'm going to challenge myself and give this challenge a go as well

with this challenge I will be doing the single poses so every other day I will practice the pose.

Let me know in the comments below if you are joining in or do any other yoga challenge.

Till next time

What's your favourite scary movie?

I love Halloween. Its my favourite holiday. It always has been, Pumpkins, Scary Movies, Sweets! and when I was little I always dressed up.

Most little girls wanted to be a princess. I wanted to be Wednesday Addams.

My favourite scary movie(s) are Scream. I think its the best Teen Slasher movie franchise.  I can't pick which one, I suppose I should say the first one. But, I love one of the lines Sidney says in the 4th (I will not say the line in case I spoil it for someone).

So this Halloween I'm going to be watching Scream 4 and Halloween II. I suppose you kind of have to watch a Halloween on Halloween ;)

So tell me, What's your favourite scary movie?
